Cowes Week 2009 - 31st July to 8th August

The quaint little town of Cowes on the Isle of Wight hosts the world's biggest Sailing Regatta each year.

Roastmaster ran a retail operation in the competitors' arena at Shepards Wharf Marina. During the 8 days of competition, an estimated 20,000 people passed through.

Breakfast consisted of both English and Continental cuisine, with a mad rush before the daily activities got under way. Things calmed down until lunchtime which saw menu changes each day into dinner. Goulash, Lamb/Vegetarian Tagine, Thai and Indian Curries, Bangers and Mash, Hog Roasts, Stir Fried dishes, hot and cold Wraps, and Gourmet Burgers, all went down a storm after a gruelling spell at sea.

Roastmaster tapped into a local fish monger, Fishcowes.co.uk (if in Cowes you have to visit!). Daily fresh harvests of local mussels, oysters, prawns, cockles & welks, lobsters etc were delivered. Needless to say Paella was a big favourite, slightly in front of a whole Spit-Roasted fresh Sea Bass, basted with garlic & parsley butter and served on a wooden plank with salads and rustic stone-baked breads.
